41102 IBOSA [TETRADENIA] RIPARIA LAB CGH HP PRICE: $ 4.00 "Musk Plant" or "Misty Plume Plant" Attractive woody-stemmed shrublet with attractive small musk-scented leaves and creamy-white winter blossom panicles creating a beautiful whispy mist around Christmas time--thus its great popularity with Victorian gardeners and continued fascination for today's hobby greenhousers. Called "Nutmeg Bush" in England; used as a moth repellent "Moschosma" in its native Africa. This is the real thing--not the "Iboza" of the trade which is usually the trailing basket plant is more accurately identified as Plectranthus madagascarensis, a cascading mint.

IMPATIENS for the 2010 SEASON

The IMPATIENS: A suprisingly diverse group of very hard working bloomers (with just a few, like 'Kew,' grown mainly for foliar knockout duty) from the fabulous nearly prostrate I. repens with its reddish kidney shaped leaves on fat cascading magenta red stems and outsized blossoms, to the tall elegant I. niamniamensis crew with thick succulent stems presenting astounding richly colored spurred cornucopia blossoms, the "Seashell" blossoms of the auricoma x walleriana hybrids, and on to the more familiar walleriana/sultanii "Buzy Lizzy" group of which we have gradually aquired and bred an outstanding range of variegated cultivars and petite dwarf hybrids over the years. Why not try the IMPATIENS COLLECTION listed below.

by ordering Stock #99107 to receive 5 labeled plants @ PRICE: $12.00 which typically include doubles, variegates, odd species, high performance dwarf 'Hawaiian' hybrids, etc. Let us know if these are to be used for summer bedding, urns, window boxes, greenhouse bloomers or litegarden showoffs, so that we can choose appropriately & ship at a safe date. None survive a serious chill, tending to fail whether planted in cool soil or shipped during cold weather. Without exception Impatiens suffer foliar (and sometimes stem tip) minor cosmetic damage when shipped because the foliage is very succulent and delicate. If you feel that you will be unable to grow these out beyond their normal shipping stress (for they resprout easily and immediately to basic TLC), please order a different group of plants and purchase bedding type Impatiens at your local nursery instead of ordering the following by mail.

90258 IMPATIENS CAPENSIS AUREA BALS HP PRICE: $ 20.00 This entry is just for fun now. We are working on a clone of our native annual Impatiens that is quite variegated. It is not stable enough to offer from seed yet, but we wanted you to see our progress. Thanks for looking. Please email us if you might be interested. Email Us if You Like This Plant

53383 IMPATIENS BICAUDATA MADAGASCAR RED BAL TGH CGH PRICE: $ 4.75 Odd mahogany purple stems studded with wide glossy basil green leaves accented by showy red hooked blossoms which can be tricky to initiate.

53384 IMPATIENS IRVINGII BAL TGH HP PRICE: $4.50 So like a 50's sockhop; furry fuzzy foliage of rich green overlaid with bold shocking pink blossoms. This retro pairing of bloom and foliage is supported by impressively usually supine meandering succulent stems; perfect in any container in a bright bright spot and adequate water.

40388IMPATIENS MINI-HAWAIIAN HAWAII [HYB] BAL PRICE: $ 4.50 Very tight mounds with ivory & rich rose purple bicolor blossoms with elfin spurs in beautiful clusters completely covering the lovely wee leaves so delecately designed. Always a favorite in windowboxes and urns, but also a strong performer indoors with litegardeners.

41424 IMPATIENS MINI-HAWAIIAN KAHOOLAWE BAL HP TGH TER PRICE: $ 4.50 Totally new color break from Glasshouse Works hybridizing program: marvelous mini bright red (on the orange side) flowers freely produced on the miniature plants--grown under lights, the blossoms have a coral red tone. A true red at last.

41628 IMPATIENS MIN-HAWAIIAN LANAI BAL HP TGH PRICE: $ 7.25 Another hybrid from Kawahara Nursery (O'ahu) with somewhat irridescent pale lilac-pink mulit-toned flowers--the upper petal always a rose-pink.

40391 IMPATIENS MINI-HAWAIIAN OAHU BAL HP TERR PRICE: $ 4.50 Vigorous cascading habit with bright pink and pearl pink bicolor flowers; small-sized flowers match elfin proportions of the small leaves on the much-branched plants. Compact enough for terrarium use, yet equally successful in summertime urns and windowboxes.

42168 IMPATIENS NIAMNIAMENSIS AFRICAN KING BAL CGH HP PRICE: $ 8.00 Succulent erect stems give a commanding presence; cornucopia shaped blossoms of deep burnt scarlet with glossy scarlet lips appear in clusters along the thick trunk, both below and with the attractively rippled dark puckered green leaves. Unusual.

54496 IMPATIENS NIAMNIAMENSIS AFRICAN QUEEN BAL TGH HP PRICE: $ 5.25 Succulent upright stems with apple green curved leaves and odd yellow helmet-shaped blossoms with rich orange and saffron highlights, thus famous as the shamelessly showy "Congo Cockatoo" with the colors and spurred "Tropical Touch-Me-Not" blossoms constantly produced if given adequate light, humidity, porus soil and organic fertilizer--for unlike your caged cockatoo, this beauty does not produce its own fertilizer.

41422 IMPATIENS OMEIANA BAL CGH HH HP PRICE: $ 8.25 "Chinese Jewelweed" Central Chinese species with true subsurface tubers; short succulent stems hold silken sea-green scalloped leaves with accordian folds and ivory midvein; nice 2" yellow cornucopia-funnelform flowers with red freckling. Winter dormant.

40384 IMPATIENS REPENS BAL CGH HP PRICE: $ 4.50 "Ceylon Jewelweed" Cascading thick red succulent stems (which self branch to form a mat) populated by masses of tiny coppery kidney shaped leaves dramatically punctuated by occassional impressive cornucopia shaped yellow hooded blossoms. Always popular with indoor litegardeners and with hobby greenhousers as a wonderful color and texture addition to any plant grouping; recently discovered by "Tropicals in Temperate Zone" designers as an excellent performer cascading from summertime urns, baskets, and windowboxes, adding a whole new dimension to an Impatiens grouping.

53385 IMPATIENS SODENII ZANZIBAR BAL CGH TGH PRICE: $ 4.75 Big bold "Skirted Snapweed" with impressively succulent stem skirted with toothed basil green foliage demanding very bright light. Large pale lilac pink flat faced blossoms with darker eye liner and elongated tail. Initially we listed this as "Impatiens zanzibarensis," while actually this clone probably is a hybrid by Derick Pitman of Impatiens sodenii uguensis and Impatiens sodenii oliveri. Thanks to Derick Pitman for this information and update!

40387 IMPATIENS SPECIES KEW [HAWKERI?] BAL CGH HP PRICE: $ 4.00 Multicolored slim leaves in wide skirts on the erect fleshy stems make this a showy summer Amaranth mimic until it betrays its balsam blood with odd salmon blossoms--spectacular accent plant from an old USDA distribution performing well in urns or mixed border; colorful winter greenhouse performer. This has been identified as a wild form of Impatiens hawkeri. We are keeping our listing as 'Kew' because that is what it originally named (years ago) when we received it from England and so distributed--so those who grow it as 'Kew' will not think we are listing a differect item.

58387 IMPATIENS WALLERIANA BUTTERFLY [HYBRID] BAL CGH HP PRICE: $ 6.50 White cream flowers with cranberry to red centers. Butterfly pattern is formed and highlighted on the lower petals in the cranberry color. Great for house culture; perhaps good under light. Note the compact bushing habit. This plant is a hybrid of Impatiens pseudoviola and Impatiens walleriana--thanks to Derick Pitman for this information.

58412 IMPATIENS WALLERIANA DOUG LOHMAN BAL CGH HP PRICE: $ 8.00 The color of this flower is deep rose magenta to rich ruby. Rather amazing and distinctive color on compact branching bush--a special addtion to the color range of Impatiens' variegations. Low growing gold margined foliage (low profile) of rich cream margined leaves is magnificantly topped with deep ruby blushed fuchsia to plum blossoms (colors fade for multitones)--rose toned when viewed from afar.

40392 IMPATIENS WALLERIANA VARIEGATA BAL CGH HP PRICE: $ 4.00 "Variegated Sultana" Popular heirloom form of "Busy Lizzy" with slate green leaves margined white to frame soft pink-magenta fls on tall arching stems. Even though an old tall form, still earns its keep--recently "discovered" by Hosta and Heuchera collectors as a perfect "dot" plant harmonizing with the perennial colors with its own echoing variegations, while adding just a touch of very soft color with the soft hued single uncomplicated blossoms.

40394 IMPATIENS WALLERIANA AUREO-VARIEGATA BAL CGH HP PRICE: $ 4.00 "Variegated Sultana" with creamy yellow margins on each leaf; studded with soft tangerine-orange blossoms produced at the tips of the tall arching stems; traditional heirloom variety.

40396 IMPATIENS WALLERIANA HENRY'S PAINTED FLOOSIE BAL CGH HP PRICE: $ 4.00 A "Double Balsam" with very large peony shaped lilac pink (with pale hearts) blossoms in clusters so heavy the stems arch over. Another Henry Ross selection which remains the most "over-the-top" outrageously double Impatiens we have grown here. Surpisingly easy to bloom, given good conditions. However, if you are after the simple wild look, avoid this one totally.

59169 IMPATIENS WALLERIANA SULTANA PEACHES & CREAM BAL CGH HP PRICE: $ 6.50 An old, hard to find favorite with large wide pink & rose-blushed leaves; the wide single soft red-rose blossoms rather startling against the variegated large foliage. Expect damage to foliage when shipped as can prove very delicate--you will need to grow this out once you unpack it. If you feel you are unable to grow this large statured spectacular heirloom out beyoud any possible shipping trauma, please order other hybrids instead.

40399 IMPATIENS WALLERIANA PROM PRINCESS BAL HP TGH PRICE: $ 6.25 Another discovery from Henry Ross: this wide branching form flaunts blackberry blushed double frosty white blossoms over the white margined gray green foliage. For the pure of heart slightly stained.

41728 IMPATIENS WALLERIANA CHERRY MARGARITA BAL CGH HP PRICE: $ 4.00 Low statured Lohman creation with bright red blossoms over the low golden foliage with rich lime margins.

41747 IMPATIENS WALLERIANA KINGWOOD BAL HP CGH PRICE: $5.00 Marvelous "Kingwood Touch-Me-Not" from Henry Ross: very low-growing lateral habit with small leaves marbled gray and green with clear cream edges; flowers bright red, or red and white bicolor (the sport with red blossoms eyed white has been offered as 'Kingwood Star' but it in turn often reverts back to the original) are perfect with any companion foliar colors.

54621 IMPATIENS WALLERIANA PAULINE COLLETT BAL CGH HP PRICE: $5.50 Stunning camellia-flowered 1995 selection from Collett's (in Belpre, Ohio): Extremely double lustrous rose flowers characteristically with a white center ruffle; wide gray-green leaves with gorgeous vanilla cream borders. Expect leaf damage in shipping.

59255 IMPATIENS WALLERIANA ROBERT BURNS BAL CGH HP PRICE: $ 4.50 "Indiana Busy Lizzy" Selected by Robert Burns of Indiana (not of Scottland): wide bright deep lavender single blossoms set against the brightly creamy white margined foliage. Very distinctive wide low spreading habit; even more distinctive as no other richly variegated cultivar has this flower color.

54427 IMPATIENS WALLERIANA WHITE GARDENIA BAL HP TGH PRICE: $ 5.00 Low mounds of foliage topped with boquets of very double bubbles of bright white tightly pettaled flowers. An old cultivar which we recently started propagating again as will bloom easily in your winter greenhouse.

41421 IMPATIENS WALLERIANA X AURICOMA SEASHELL YELLOW BAL HP CGH PRICE: $ 6.50 Showy yellow cornucopia blossoms show heritage of acurioma var. comorense's yellow helmet shaped blossoms; succulent stems.

40378 IMPATIENS MORSEI (VELVEETA) SECRET LOVE [HORT] BAL TGH TERR PRICE: $10.00 Most recently idendified as an Impatiens morsei cultivar. Deep emerald leaves with startling silver midvein and brilliant carmine underleaf. Big cornucopia helmet shaped rosy pink flowers. Large terrarium recommended if grown as a houseplant. Does poorly in hot climates. Thanks to Chris Baker who unearthed this stunning challenge in England..

Sweet Taters (IPOMEAS) for the 2010 SEASON

TRENDY TATERS: Astoundingly popular for urns, bedding, baskets, windowboxes, even trellises. We do stress that these are totally tropical. So if you garden on Long Island or in Oregon and plant these in chilled ground the evening before a dusting of snow, they will--to quote a bemused Seattle Customer--"simply disappear." Thus, please allow us to ship these to you in a timely fashion unless you maintain a greenhouse for your yam yearnings.

99047 IPOMEA: TRENDY TATERS COLLECTION (FIVE TYPES) A strong selection of Ipomea for baskets, urns, or windowboxes--will not include the fussy 'Ivory Jewel' or any Morning Glory types. Over the last few years this group of plants has become famous for showing off the whole season long! For those of you with hobby greenhouses, we have included some photos of the following cultivars showing the charming flowers often produced midwinter when heat and light intensities are sufficient to induce flower buds. These beautiful Ipomeas are perfect cascading from windowboxes, urns, and hanging baskets; yet, do not overlook their cheerful willingness to cover a bare surfaced bedding dilemma (they will cover a rough patch of mulch bewteen evergreens or leggy shrubs with ease, making you appear to be a master designer), or their ability to complement and compliment a slightly tired bed of Hosta or other perennials you did not get around to dividing or redigging this year (making you appear to be innovative and daring in your design ideas); indeed, we feel that 'Lady Fingers' is best used as a fast growing ground cover as it can be a bit too vigorous in a small urn or basket . . . As these decorative "Sweet Potato's" tuberous roots hold ample water to get them though a bit of neglect from time to time, this crew always assists the gardener, rather than creating new problems and challenges. PRICE: $15.00 plus PRICE: $4.50shipping.

55962 IPOMEA BATATAS ACE OF SPADES CONV TGH HP PRICE: $5.00 Striking blackish maroon spade shaped (heart shaped) leaves are thickly set on succulent trailing stems; same habit as 'Blackie' with edible white tubers. Recently has been "re-marketed" on East Coast as 'Purple Heart.' Must reflect a time of war. Fabulous in urns and baskets; very effective when paired with the chartreuse 'Margarita' in large outdoor bedding schemes. Will hold color well even in shady locations.

40403 IPOMEA BATATAS BLACKIE CONV TGH HP PRICE: $ 3.00 "Black Yam" or "Purple-leaved Sweet Potato" Dark palmate leaves overlap to create a starburst lacy effect while firmly anchored on sturdy maroon-stemmed vines; fabulous in hanging baskets. As popular now as when we first offered it some twenty years ago with Carolyn in the Country Hills catalogue.

49452 IPOMEA BATATAS FRECKLES CON TGH HP PRICE: $ 5.50 Fingered "Sweet Potato Vine" with the entire surface splashed and streaked in yellow lime to create a showy tie-dyed effect.

49451 IPOMEA BATATAS GOLD FINGERS CONV TGH HP PRICE: $ 5.00 A fast growing form bright yellow lime like 'Margarita' but with attractively fingered leaves like 'Blackie'.

59237 IPOMEA BATATAS IVORY JEWEL CONV TGH PRICE: $ 12.50 The remarkable "Variegated Sweet Potato" selection made by Doug Lohman with fluted heart-shaped leaves richly splashed with creamy lime & vanilla jade tones accented by ivory veins--difficult but remarkable Much prized by growers of anything but green. This is the one collector cultivar not likely to hold its own in mixed combination container designs, but best grown as an individual specimen. This is most definitely a propagate-to-order item.

55616 IPOMEA BATATAS MARGARITA [CHARTREUSE] CONV HP TGH PRICE: $ 4.75 The "Golden Sweet Potato Vine" produces ranks of bright yellow-ochre heart shaped leaves, becoming more halbert-lobed as the plant expands & matures, even forming a fine purple rim in sun--obviously the perfect companion for 'Ace of Spades' as well as 'Blackie'; if grown during the winter in your greenhouse, will produce sparce violet blushed morning glory blossoms--more curious than decorative flowers.

59194 IPOMEA BATATAS PURPLE TUBER CONV TGH HP PRICE: $ 4.25 "Purple Yam" (although technically a "Sweet Potato" and not even related to the yam gang) Hawaiian clone with purple fleshed tubers (said to be at their most yummy when prepared with your deep pit roast pig); very ornately cut clean-green cookie cutter somewhat palmate foliage on self branching meandering stems. Amazingly popular! Certainly a case of having your 'tater cake and eating it too. We are impressed that this is the most ordered cultivar during some past seasons. Hawaiian cookouts seem to be on the increase. Or perhaps plantsmen simply like to eat their bedding or urn designs after enjoying the summer foliar display?

55564 IPOMEA BATATAS TRICOLOR [PINK POTATO] CONV CGH HH PRICE: $ 5.50 Remarkable slate green sharply lobed "Sweet Potato" leaves with bright pink margins setting to rosy cream. An amazingly beautiful cultivar initially shared with us by Doug Ruhren who had inherited it from Yinger's Asian peregrinations; and indeed, under the original clone name of 'Tricolor' it was a 1980s introduction in the nurseries and gardens of India--where it is pictured in publications from India printed and published in the 1920s.

54336 IPOMEA BATATAS VARDAMAN CONV TGH PRICE: $ 4.00 Odd purple-toned heart shaped leaves which mature to a rich dark dusky to murky green. Quite vigorous maroon stemmed heirloom with attractive foliage & orange fleshed tasty tubers which are categoried in the baking stringless type of yamflesh considered the very best for sweet tater pie--and so marketed even today. So after frosts have terminated the beautiful foliage, dig up the tubers and make a pie.

56564 IPOMEA LADY FINGERS [SPECIES UNIDENTIFIED] CONV HP TGH PRICE: $ 4.00 Extremely vigorous "Fingered Sweet Potato" with vigorous stems holding aloft stunning dark leaves, with seven deep fingered lobes accented with dark purple raised veins on the reverse. Loves aquatic conditions; but thrives equally well cascading dramatically from a windowbox or urn; needs a large basket if grown in a hanging basket for the foliage is quite vigorous and the tubers need room to form. Some have suggested that this may more correctly be Convolvulus althaeoides tenuissimus; others point out that it has the seven lobes of I mauritiana as well as the showy violed eyed winter morning glory blossoms so readily produced. Sometimes we have underestimated the popularity of this astoundingly vigorous showoff--but stock is plentiful currently.

Jasmines (JASMINUM) for the 2010 SEASON

The JASMINES: Why not try a JASMINE COLLECTION. We offer two types of Jasmine Collection. For overall blooming reliability, the second Collection is much more adaptable.

99104 JASMINE: TRUE SPECIES COLLECTION: We send a selection of 5 actual Jasminum species for PRICE: $22.00; these will demand very bright, evenly cool fall and winter conditions, and reliable humidity levels in order to set flower buds. If you are unable to provide these very strict fall conditions, best try the following collection instead in order to achieve the fragrant blossoms.

99105 JASMINE: PLANTS CALLED JASMINE: Should you lack the cool, humid, very bright conditions demanded by the bulk of the true species but still want the intense fragrances, we can select a group collectively known (because of their type of fragrance) by the common name "Jasmine" such as specific species of Cestrum, Solanum, Pandorea, Stephanotis, certain Mandevilla, specific Gardenia, & Trachleospermum, as well as including those true ones (such as the Sambac crew) reliably performing well indoors. 5 plants @ PRICE: $18.00

42025 JASMINUM BEESIANUM OLE CGH HH PRICE: $ 6.00 "Rose Jasmine" from Western China. Zone 7 willowy shrub to clambering vine (depending on where you site it) with pairs of sharply pointed lance leaves and dark rose pink fragrant blossoms. Must have full sunlight to perform well. Our stock plants have happily lived outdoors in an exposed coldframe for many years, blooming heavily every late spring. This vigorous vine will not form flowerbuds without a chilly fall.

41428 JASMINUM FLORIBUNDUM OLE CGH PRICE: $ 10.00 Pink tinted fragrant blossom clusters on vine with clouds of glossy opposite small pinnate leaves giving a lacy appearance. Easy in containers. If given rootrun in the subtropics will soon clamber up a wall or fence. A seasonal bloomer like the similar much larger statured J. polyanthum.

40416 JASMINUM FLORIDUM OLE CGH HP HH PRICE: $ 10.00 Asian Jasmine with delicate, small crome yellow flower clusters which are quite long lasting on erect, semi-evergreen vines, arching branched shrub covered with deep green 3 or 4 lobed leaves lending a lacy appearance. Evergreen in zone 9 and warmer. Quite slow to extablish. "Floridum" refers to a "Southern" origin--not to a USA state.

54007 JASMINUM LERATII [LIGUSTRIFOLIUM] OLE TGH HP PRICE: $ 6.25 "New Calidonian Jasmine" or, for its foliage, the "Privet Jamine" with upright maroon-blushed shrubby stems presenting cluster of shar-shaped fragrant white blossoms only after this shrub has reached maturity.

41887 JASMINUM MULTIFLORUM [PUBESCENS] OLE HP TGH PRICE: $ 6.00 "Angel Hair Jasmine" from India to China: Freely spreading shrub with downy cordate leaves and clusters of intensely sweet scented white starlike flowers at the tips and along the stems when given full sun, adequate humidity and a rich medium. This "Downy Jasmine" has long been known as J. pubescens in the Florida trade where its willingness to bloom freely while in a container has made it a basic favorite.

40417 JASMINUM NITIDUM MAGNIFICUM OLE HP TGH PRICE: $ 7.50 The beautiful dark glossy ("nitidum means "shiny") leaves sport pure white fragrant blossom clusters sequenced in flushes of blooms around the calendar year as long as receives full sun, reliable moisture and organic fertilizer. Habit best described as a vining shrub. Native to the Admirality Islands, this is a species which will bloom well in a container.

54478 JASMINUM NITIDUM MAGNIFICUM VARIEGATED OLE HP TGH PRICE: $ 9.75 The beautiful dark glossy leaves sport bright ochre-yellow central flames; pure white fragrant blossom clusters sequenced around the calendar year as long as receives full sun, reliable moisture and organic fertilizer. Habit best described as a vining shrub.

40418 JASMINUM NUDIFLORUM OLE HH CGH PRICE: $6.50 "Hardy Chinese Jasmine" Yellow odorless tubular blossoms on rush like twigs of this dull polished three-part leaved shrub from late winter on through March. "Pinwheel Jasmine" is hardy here, typically starting the long bloom period mid February unless the winter has been quite harsh. Late winter visitors to the outdoor gardens here are always amazed to observe this "not really a Forsythia" blooming away along the brick pathway.

40419 JASMINUM NUDIFLORUM MYSTIQUE OLE HT CGH PRICE: $ 18.00Tiny lobed leathery leaves variegated white; rare Japanese form of this "Hardy Chinese Jasmine" producing yellow tubular flowers along the deciduous (if grown outdoors) stems throughout the winter. Hardy for us in Zone 6b. From Brookside Gardens, this is sometimes a propagate-to-order item.

42238 JASMINUM OFFICINALE AUREOVARIEGATUM OLE HP CGH PRICE: $15.00 "Golden Summer Jasmine" The intensely fragrant white cluster of summer & fall blossoms are highlighted by the trifoliate foliage's yellow blotched variegation which varies in its intensity according to temperature and light levels. Given free root run in your greenhouse, this sends out many slim woody vines to support the variegated foliage and sented flowers. This species is famous not only for its supposed qualities as an aphrodiasiac, but also an an antiseptic; often provides that metallic flavor in Maraschino Cherries!

40446 JASMINUM OFFICINALE FROJAS SOLID GOLD OLE CGH TGH PRICE: $ 12.00 "Spanish Jasmine" Western Chinese species with tubular white flowers produced maily during the winter season in showy fragrant clusters; unlike 'Variegatum,' the chartreuse gold foliage is solid, not mottled. Dramatic "Fiona Sunrise".

40421 JASMINUM POLYANTHUM OLE CGH HP PRICE: $ 3.00 "French Perfume" Vigorous climber with attractive compound (foliate) leaves in opposite pairs and mid-winter clouds of white richly-scented flower clusters (which have pinkish cast in bright light as the unopened buds are blushed red). Basic to any collection, the Yunnan native is quite vigorous. Very very strongly scented--the one traditionally trained into Christmas season blooming live wreaths.

58311 JASMINUM POLYANTHUM MARGINATUM OLE CGH HP PRICE: $ 18.00 "Variegated French Perfume" Vigorous climber with attractive compound (foliate) leaves in opposite pairs--with each leaflet margined ivory-- and mid-winter clouds of white richly-scented flower clusters (which have pinkish cast in bright light as the unopened buds are blushed red). This "Perfumed Princess" is much slower growing than the species form.

41958 JASMINUM REX OLE HP TGH PRICE: $ 15.00 TEMPORARILY OUT OF PRODUCTION. INQUIRE Impressive "Thai King Jasmine" noted for large waxy deep green leaves and large pure white scentless blossoms. This is from the giant specimen at Longwood Gardens. Largest flowers of any Jasmine species; very slow to establish.

40422 JASMINUM SAMBAC OLE HP TGH PRICE: $ 10.00 "Arabian Jasmine" Wide oval leaves on woody climbing shrub; one inch wide heavy white single fls of intense fragrance-- traditionally used to flavor tea. "Pikake" blossoms fade to palest violet throughout the year--sacred to Vishnu. This clone from the National Botanic Garden's collection is very slow maturing (unlike the following commercial selections) and not notably vigorous even in greenhouse conditions.

40423 JASMINUM SAMBAC GRAND DUKE OF TUSCANY OLE HP TGH PRICE: $12.50 "Arabian Jasmine" clone with double cauliflowered camellia- like fragrant flowers, thus known as the "Moss Rose Jasmine"-- correctly J.sambac `Flore-plena.' Excellent foliage of deep green ruffled leaves on strong rigidly erect canes; easily produces its typically solitary flower if provided richly fertilized warm soil, bright light and even levels of humidity; avoid chill to prevent flower bud drop.

40424 JASMINUM SAMBAC MAID OF ORLEANS OLE HP TGH PRICE: $ 10.00 This "Arabian Jasmine" clone has semi-double flowers of rich fragrance on woody shrubs with pale foliage; considered the best for houseculture by the Elberts--certainly the easiest to bloom indoors. The famous J.s. `Multiplex' grown for oils used in the French perfume industry; traditionally the Chinese use this attractive form to give fragrance to green tea.

41944 JASMINUM TORTUOSUM OLE TGH HP PRICE: $ 12.00 Handsome "African Jasmine." Dark foliage (oblong leathery leaves in groups of three) on shrubby vine perfectly foils the abundant very sharply fragrant open clusters of white starflowers of thick substance with triangular lobes. South African native of robust growth once established--stand back if this strikes root in your greenhouse floor. Sometimes a challenge to propagate and not any too pleased with containers, so best considered a propagate-to-order item.

40425 JASMINUM VOLUBILE MACULATA [HORT] OLE HP CGH PRICE: $ 8.00"Australian Wax jasmine" Small glossy leaves dappled lemon-gold when temperatures are cool, on strong vines; open clusters of quite fragrant white star-like flowers produced irregularly throughout the yeard with sufficient sun and fertilizer, especially if given free rootrun. Needs full sun to perform; known in Asia as J. simplicifolium.

67399 JATROPHA HASTATA [INTEGERRIMA] COMPACTA EUP HP TGH PRICE: $ 10.00 Fiddle-shaped richly toned foilage on upright shrublet with a constant show of deep rose red flowers in erect clusters as long as good light (full sun if you are as far north as us) is available. Cuban "Peregine" performs well as a container plant. Give bright light and avoid EVER allowing the roots to chill and this will bloom with abandon. Often availability is irregular, please inquire before ordering. * For other Jatropha species check the SUCCULENT PLANTS section of this website.

31415 JUSTICIA BRANDEGEANA FRUIT COCKTAIL/ MUTANT ACAN TGH PRICE: $ 6.00 Originally considered a mutant of "Shrimp Plant" with erect ranks of deep burnished red bracts with pastel red lipped flowers. Doug Lohman's clone of this vigorous potplant. Now considered to probably be a sport of Justicia [Beloperone] comosa.

50091 JUSTICIA BRANDEGEANA JAMBALAYA ACAN HP TGH PRICE: $ 4.00 "Dwarf Shrimp Plant" A cultivar selected for its compact much-branched habit with attractive bronzy red drooping chain of bracts persisting much longer than the species form. Will bloom most seasons if given full sun and adequate fertilizer.

50040 JUSTICIA BRANDEGEANA VARIEGATA ACAN TGH PRICE: $ 4.25 "Snow Shrimp" Fabulous snowy white variegation on foliage fading to pure white margins; white bracts turn copper in bright light. Rare and striking sport. Not a totally successful houseplant unless you can provide the essential levels of humidity necessary to prevent spider mite. But with good light and a pebble tray this is a definite visual knock-out.

50042 JUSTICIA CARNEA [JACOBINIA CARNEA] ACAN TGH PRICE: $ 4.50 "King's Crown" or "Brazilian Plume" Erect stems bear large, very showy plumes of rose-pink tubular hooked fls. Knockout. Available usually in late Spring. Other times of the year, it might be propagated to order.

50041 JUSTICIA EXTENSA ACAN HP TGH PRICE: $4.75 "Camouflage Plant" Zaire native with erect stems completely covered by small leaves patterned ash-silver; clusters of tiny weird horned blossoms are quite intriguing. Modest, yet beautiful foliage houseplant deserving more popularity. Properly pruned, this is small statured enough to give height in a larger terrarium or Wardian Case where its lovely foliage designs can be displayed to advantage.

69003 JUSTICIA PETIOLARIS BOWIEI ACAN TGH HP PRICE: $ 6.00 Beautiful mauve blossoms perfectly foiled by wide rounded sheened leaves, each with a bright radiating midvein. An introduction from Kirstenbosch fomerly listed a J. bowiei--actually looks more like a Barleria! Fabulous in a shaded basket or mixed urn.

50045 JUSTICIA RIZZINI ACAN CGH HP PRICE: $ 4.00 Also Jacobinia pauciflora/floribunda. "Brazilian Fuchsia" Tiny oval olive toned leaves on jointed, arched stems bearing marvelous pendant scarlet flowers with bright yellow tips. A Victorian favorite which requires a relatively cool location in your greenhouse in order to initiate flower bud formation along with bright light and good air movement. Easy to grow; tricky to flower--however, if you can easily flower the Jasmine tribe and Camellias, this is going to be a snap.
